heritage
'heritage' is an evolving body of work.
the objective is to create a collection of furniture that takes inspiration from irelands rich heritage creating new pieces of contemporary furniture that express a unique sense of national identity - innovative products that seek to define irish contemporary culture through the medium of furniture design. the focus of this work is on the use of indiginous materials and manufacturing. the pieces aim to express the qualities of a cultural narative, artefact or typology while always maintaining a refined use of form.
the overall initiative seeks to promote and document a heritage of design in ireland.
the brief has been the focus of a number of seminars and workshops with the ifdn.
it is proposed that 'heritage' will be the title of an exhibition in the national museum of ireland in 2011, the development of which will documented for future publication.
